Esther and Jerry Hicks: Ask and It is Given

The book Ask and it is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks should be on your reading list, if it isn't already. I first learned about the Hicks and their channeling of non-physical beings they call Abraham from a friend, but got more in-depth information including a passionate endorsement for this book from the personal growth expert Steve Pavlina. If you haven't visited Steve's blog before, you need to start. He is a great motivational writer and personal growth expert.

The book Ask and it is Given fits in with "The Secret" and the "mind creates reality"mindset that gels with quantum physics. Quantum theories aside, have you noticed how some people just seem to attract bad, bad, luck time and again while others keep winning the lottery?

That is what mind creates reality is about. We may not be aware of it, but we're subconsciously wishing our own bad results upon ourselves by expecting it and giving negative results energy. In other words, expect you're never going to have financial success, and those debts will never get paid off.

I have to say its true, what you believe in your mind has a big influence on how things in the external world work. I'm not going to try to explain it, just accept it as IS. So how can we turn things around? Here is a nice suggestion from Steve:

"One of the ways to test whether or not your thoughts really do create your reality is to change your dominant thinking about something and then observe whether external reality follows suit to re-align itself with your new thoughts.  It can take a while to change your beliefs about something, but the way I do it is to pick a new thought that’s incongruent with my current reality and then hold that thought in my head as much as possible.  I keep thinking about it until I start to believe it. "

This one thought is such great advice-why not start there? That's our exercise for today. For homework, jump on Amazon.com and order the Hicks book Ask and It is Given.
