Premonitions in the Dream State

Premonitions-when future events are foretold-often elude us because they occur during the dream state while sleeping. When this happens they are referred to as precognitive dreams. Often people view someone who has a lot of precognitive dreams as being gifted.

Believe it or not everyone is gifted with some level of psychic ability, and its possible to hone in on those abilities and improve them. There is nothing magical about this, its just like strengthening your muscles through exercise. While you may not rise to the level of a psychic or professional medium, you will find that indeed the universe is making information available from the future.

Information flow throughout the universe-and even along the time dimension-is nothing crazy and nothing to be feared. In fact precognitive dreams appear several times in the Bible, specifically in the Old Testament. Instead of fearing precognitive dreams or premonitions, you should try to tap into it. In the beginning, information revealed in your dreams may be random. For example, I once kept having dreams about a man at work wearing a particular shirt. I started noticing the dreams kept occurring the night before he showed up with the shirt on.

Other times the dreams may be so specific that they can be definitely labeled as premonitions. One time, a cousin of mine was visiting. That night I had a very vivid dream. In my dream I woke up early in the morning so I could make coffee for her. But she was already awake and was packing her suitcase frantically. I said "what's wrong" and she said her father had become seriously ill. It was an emergency so she had to leave right away to tend to him.

The dream ended at that point, but when I woke up the next morning I was shocked to find my cousin actually getting ready to leave! It turned out that her father had a stroke the previous night!

I remember this episode because the event in the dream was so dramatic. But most of the time, precognitive dreams may be about ordinary or insignificant events and we don't make anything of it. But you can start to hone your own psychic abilities by working on precognitive dreaming. This is not something that can be forced, instead allow it to happen. Start by keeping a notebook and pen next to your bed to use as a dream journal. Each time you awaken and remember a dream, write the dream down in your journal. Leave some space below to make notes when things in the dreams actually appear in waking life. After allowing, awareness is the next step in developing your abilities. The dream notebook will help you do this.

Keeping a dream journal is also just a good idea overall. Dreams often communicate information not of a precognitive nature, but helpful information nonetheless. By keeping a record of your dreams you can interpret them or have a record for an expert to interpret them if so desired.
